Jury's Motivation
I was very interested in the simplicity and clarity of the idea. An object tries to reproduce its own past and never fully succeeds. From this seemingly minimal situation emerges a project about the difference between what once was and what can be recovered. The relationship between object, image, and trace is built with precision and without unnecessary artifice. (Carmen Lidia Vidu, mentor)
Project Description
„După urmă”
The project proposes a compelling video installation in which a kinetic object engages in real-time dialogue with its own recording from a black-and-white film, attempting to reconstruct its earlier sonic traces through small, unpredictable deviations in rhythm and intensity. The work's major relevance within the "Unboxing Brâncuși" Open Call lies in its deep, if indirect, connection to Brâncuși's vision, achieved through a rigorous reduction of form and artistic gesture to an essential core, governed by the pure relationship between object, light, movement, and time. This conceptual framework also opens a dialogue with Man Ray's practice, transforming the video image from mere documentation into an active trace that alters the object's present-day behavior and refreshes the modernist legacy.
